Special type of ulcers due to impaired blood
supply and tissue nutrition due to prolonged pressure.
•
Skin overlying sacrum and hips is commonly
involved.
•
Patient is old, paralyzed or unconscious
patient.
Treatment
o
Good nursing care is needed.
o
Early treatment requires antibiotic powders and
absorbent bandage.
o
Established lesion requires surgery for
debridement and dressing.
o
Spongy foam may be put under the pressure points
of body.
